When times were most challenging during 2021, ongoing communication produced employee comfort for Matick Automotive Group, says Molly Williams, chief operating officer. And in the process her company earned  the No. 3  ranking among midsize companies in the Detroit Free Press Top Workplaces competition.

“Paul Zimmermann (vice president/partner-owner) and I did videos regularly to let our team members know what we were doing and why, to maintain a clean, safe workplace,” Williams said.

The Matick Automotive Group team (Matick Chevy, Matick Toyota and Matick Auto Wash) and customers donated more than $5,700 plus a truck full of supplies, food and care items to DetroitÕs Animal Care and Control, DetroitÕs only animal shelter that Matick has partnered with for nearly five years for the ÒPick Ups for PawsÓ program.

“The videos allowed us to keep up with our team in real time, which has been critical to our success. We want to be a place where our employees and customers feel comfortable about coming in and feel better about their day when they leave, and timely communication helped us to accomplish that goal on the employee side.”

Williams explained that the company’s commitment to communication also promotes trust and cooperation among her team members.
