Griffin Steinfeld is no stranger to the automotive community.

Steinfeld has driven for NASCAR, been featured on AutotopiaLA with his 2,000-horsepower Chevy Apache truck, and recently he turned heads at LS Fest West with his stunning 1966 Chevelle featuring a custom-built twin-turbo LS power plant under the hood.

Check out this Steve Strope build when it was featured on AutotopiaLA.

LS Fest West 2021 was a huge success as gearheads with an affection for the LS platform from all over came out to show off what they built. Of the many cars at the event, some made with LS engines under the hood and others benefitting from a transplant, was this absolute gem of a classic Chevy. Builder Griffin Steinfeld gave Holley’s film crew an up-close look at the car and shared a bit of information on the car in a brief but fascinating interview.

According to Steinfeld, the 1966 Chevelle has been in his obviously tight-knit family for well over a decade, over which time it has developed into an absolute beast of a car. For some time it featured a twin-turbo old school small block that served the car well. Unfortunately, a dropped valve ruined the engine a few months back. On the bright side though, the incident afforded Steinfeld a reason to LS swap the car which landed it at one of the largest LS-centered events in the world.

On its second trip down the ¼-mile strip, the car was able to rocket to 171-mph in just 8.46-seconds. That’s not bad for a setup that was literally put together in just five days. As far as chassis goes, the Chevelle is all 1966 minus the Viking shocks. Among the Holley parts is the Holley Dominator EFI system which makes controlling the twin-turbo LS and 4L80E transmission as simple as possible. We cannot wait to see more of this car at future events or to see what else Steinfeld comes up with next.
