2023 Ford Super Duty gets a redesign, more tech and updated engines

At the front there are seven different grille designs to choose from, which change based on trim level and the addition of appearance packages. Besides the new grille, the 2023 Super Duty gets new C-shaped lighting elements and LED headlights. Long side vents have been added to improve the Super Duty’s aerodynamics. There’s also a new XL Off-Road package that adds 33-inch all-terrain tires, an electronic locking rear differential, and skid plates. It’s only available on the single rear axle, four-wheel drive F-250 and F-350 models.

Inside an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system is standard, while higher trim levels get a 12.0-inch screen. There are two B&O audio systems to choose from and other goodies like a 12-inch digital gauge cluster and wireless charging. For people that want to take some time to relax, the optional Max Recline Seats fold nearly flat and have a lower cushion that rises.

Under the hood the standard engine is a new 6.8-liter V8 that’s mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. The 7.3-liter V8 gets an improved air intake and revised tuning. The Power Stroke diesel 6.7-liter V8 gets a new high output version with unique tuning, a different turbocharged and updated exhaust manifolds. Starting with the XLT trim level, the Super Duty comes standard with four-wheel drive.

There are a bunch of new tech upgrades as well, like a 5G wireless connection that accepts over-the-air updates and allows up to 10 devices to connect to its Wi-Fi hotspot. There’s also the available ProPower Onboard, which is a 2.0-kW onboard generator that can power a jobsite or campground. A head-up display is available for the first time and the adaptive cruise control has stop and go functionality with lane centering assist. The Super Duty also has front and rear emergency braking.

If towing is your thing, there are new onboard scales that can give you estimated cargo weight to make sure you don’t exceed the truck’s payload. The scales also help you evenly distribute the trailer’s tongue weight. There’s also a blind-spot monitor for the fifth-wheel and gooseneck towing and a 360-degree camera system that’s designed for trailers.
