Car crashes into Schnucks south St. Louis

ST. LOUIS — Two people have died after a car crashed into the entrance of a Schnucks grocery store in south St. Louis Friday afternoon, according to authorities. Both people were inside the vehicle during the incident.

Emergency crews responded to the store located at 1020 Loughborough Drive around 3:00 p.m. FOX 2’s Bommarito Automotive Group SkyFOX flew over the scene, capturing footage of the vehicle flipped on its side.

Both people inside the car were rushed to the hospital in critical condition and later died from their injuries, authorities said. It’s unclear what led to the crash.

Schnucks said no employees or customers inside the store were injured. The store remained open but asked customers to use another entrance.

One customer who was at the scene of the crash said it was “heartbreaking.”

“It’s really sad and heartbreaking,” said customer Ebony Nickels. “That was someone’s family in that car. My heart really goes out to whoever was in that car.”

Police have not released any further details pertaining to the crash.
