So, you’ve built an enduro racer and you’re ready to go racing. What can you do as a driver to make certain your car survives to the end of the race?
- You have to drive fast.
- You have to have the reflexes of a cat.
- You have to protect your racer.
Allow me elaborate a bit.
Drive fast – When you are racing in an enduro you will find out in a hurry that you need to keep up a fast pace. If you are slow on the track, you will get run over. There are a lot of racers that will just crash through you instead of racing smart and protecting their car and you will get wrecked in the process.
Great Reflexes – Surviving an enduro takes great reflexes. Great reflexes are your first defense in protecting your car. Accidents will be happening all around you in a typical enduro race and great reflexes will allow you to avoid many of them. You will never avoid all accidents so make sure the racer you bring is tough enough to take a few hits.
Protect Your Racer – Protect your car’s nose. Never run into anyone if you can avoid it. Don’t be afraid to brake. It’s better to take a hit in the rear end of your racer than on your front end. Protect your tires. Don’t run over debris if it can be avoided, and don’t rub side by side with rusted junks. Their rusted out, jagged fenders will shred your tires for sure.
If you remember to follow these 3 simple tips, your chances of surviving to the end of, or even winning an enduro, will be greatly increased.
