Porsche Launches In-Car Virtual Reality Ride At Their LA Experience Center With Holoride

[ad_1]

Porsche has collaborated with virtual reality experience company Holoride to bring a new VR ride to their Porsche Experience Center (PEC) in Los Angeles. Participants will ride in the back of a Cayenne, and the motion of the vehicle will synchronize with their VR headsets to provide a fully immersive experience.

The Cayenne will drive around the Los Angeles PEC as passengers in the back seat through a virtual outer space in a game called Cosmic Chase. As the vehicle moves, its driving data is translated directly to in-game movement to provide top-notch realism (as well as minimize riders’ risk of motion sickness) by matching what they feel with what they see. While in the game, players have to try and protect their “spaceship” by shooting at aliens and other obstacles that approach them.

“Porsche stands for emotional and dynamic customer experiences and the joint pilot with holoride is a great teaser on how these experiences can be translated to a digital future,” said Porsche Cars North America Strategy and Digital Business Director Zabih Aria. “The new installation in our Porsche Experience Center in Los Angeles is the next step in our partnership that we intend to continue in the future.”

Adding to that, Holoride CEO and co-founder Nils Wollny said: “We are collaborating with Porsche Cars North America to give riders the thrill of a high-speed ride, combined with a highly-immersive VR experience. We are excited to offer a new type of attraction to automotive and entertainment-savvy audiences in the greater Los Angeles area. This attraction is a perfect example of how automotive experience centers are transforming into exciting destinations that the whole family can enjoy and where no one is left out.”

Should the collaboration prove to be successful at the Los Angeles location, Porsche and Holoride plan to roll out this experience to other PECs across the globe.
